Manage the Treatment Plan

You can manage a Patient’s treatment plan and modify any treatment day, rest day, or type of medication (paid, FOC, voucher, donation) just like you create & manage the Local Program’s treatment plans. What should be kept in mind is that the Treatment Plan should always reflect the reality of the patient treatment

MedPack switch

With Patient Manager user rights, you are limited in the TP scheme update. However, you can still change the MedPack type for a specific cycle, as long as the total number by type remains the same.

MedPack Type Change

If a MedPack type change is required, you will need to ask a staff member with Program Supervisor user rights to do it. PMS Support can also help with this.

Treatment Days and Rest Days

Treatment days (T) and Rest days (R) can be updated when necessary. For example, you may want to change the number of Rest days if you know that a cycle will be delayed.

When shall I adapt the patient’s Treatment Plan?

When a patient took the wrong MP type

For example if patient consumed a Paid instead of a FOC, you will replace the original FOC by a Paid, and put the remaining FOC later in the TP.

To capture charity covered MedPacks after Charity Approval

You will need to reach out to a program supervisor and ask to change the Paid MedPack type to a Charity MedPack, accordingly to what the charity will cover

To capture a potential delay in the administration of a MedPack

Manually add some rest days to push the scheduled date of administration (to receive the follow-up at proper time). Please note that if cycle is validated with a date that includes the delay, the scheduled date of next cycle will be recalculated. No need to add rest days anymore.

Treatment on Hold/Pause

A treating physician could decide that the patient requires a pause on their treatment. In this case, the PMS provides the option to do so in the Treatment Plan tab:

The on-hold feature is only available for 28 days at a time. After 28 days, the treatment will automatically restart, and it is your responsibility to put the treatment on hold again. It is also possible to stop the pause manually by clicking on the button again, should the treatment restart before the end of the planned pause.

Upon clicking on the button, the PMS will automatically (and starting after the 1st day of hold):

  • Add 28 days of rest to the current cycle

  • Update all future scheduled dates to take the 28 days into account

  • Change the patient status to reflect the hold

If the hold is stopped before the 28 days, the PMS will adjust accordingly.

importantIMPORTANT

The patient is still considered active in the program stats, even if the treatment is on hold.
