Adverse Event reporting: what is the difference between new and follow-up?
When should I report a new Adverse Event instead of following-up on an existing one.
Imagine you have a patient suffering from a stomach ache (not good)
So you report the AE as usual.
A day later, you speak with the patient and they express that the stomach ache has subsided (good).
So you create the follow up interaction log, mentioning what the patient described.
Then, go about your day, everything is fine (yay).
Two days later, you speak with the patient and they say the stomach ache has gotten worse (very, not good). In this case, you create the follow up interaction log, mentioning what the patient described. Then, you create a new AE for the related follow-up.
