What to do when content is not correctly formatted in the Excel file (for dates especially), preventing the user from filtering the data?

  1. Identify if user has access to Excel Online or both online and desktop versions
  2. For Excel Online: in option > Change regional format settings to English (Ireland)
  3. For Excel Desktop (if applicable): change the regional format setting to English (Ireland) at MS Windows level
  4. Close Excel so the change is taken into account
  5. Download the file again, because the original one has already been compromised
