Combination

In the PMS, a combination is matching of a prescription and an indication.

Composition

The quantity and product name that is for the patient to collect at the pharmacy/HCP. Each letter is generated with a quantity number in the Medicine tab. The product name and price are set in the Program > Information tab.

Charity

A Charity is a non-for-profit entity partnering with Axios to support Patients through Patient Assistance or Support Programs.

Creative Access Strategies (CAS)

Axios’ treatment access approach to address the challenges related to healthcare affordability and availability in emerging markets. In markets where out-of-pocket spending is high, CAS makes it possible for private companies, institutions, and patients to share the cost burden through partial payment programs and alternative financing models.

Diagnosis

The process of determining which disease or condition explains a person's symptoms and signs. From the diagnosis, a Physician will determine the indication, and prescribe the appropriate medication and dosage.

Donation

Medication that are donated by the Pharma client to the Patient directly.

Global Program

A Global Program is the parent to Local Programs, that are country specific. A client could decide to run a Program in one or more countries.

Health Center

A Health Center is a point of care that the Patient can visit. It can be a hospital, a pharmacy, or both. It can also either be a public or private institution.

Indication

A condition which makes a particular treatment or procedure advisable. Example of indications are Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) or Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL).

MedPack

A MedPack, identifies the total amount of medication a Patient will collect per cycle and per financial scheme, regardless of the actual number of boxes. For example, a patient could be prescribed 4 vials for her next cycle, 1 paid, 1 FOC and 2 Charity vials. This cycle will have 3 MedPacks, representing each scheme. Each MedPack has a composition in which we can enter the number of vials distributed to the patient.

Medication

Also referred to as medicine, pharmaceutical drug, or simply drug – is a drug used to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent disease.

Medication Release Letter (MRL)

A document submitted to the eligible Patient to be able to collect the supported medication from the designated Pharmacies.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

A document that describes the broad outlines of an agreement that two or more parties have reached. MOUs communicate the mutually accepted expectations of all the parties involved. Axios signs MOUs as a form of partnership (with charities, governments, pharmacies, etc.)

Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)

A non-profit organization that operates independently of any government.

Open to new country

A Program may be for a single country, or for multiple countries. This is a setting at the Global Program level that should be configured by a Program Supervisor.

Patient Assistance Program (PAP)

Programs that create solutions to address the unmet financial needs of Patients through their journey. They are designed to help Patients gain access to their prescribed treatment even if they cannot pay for it in full or face healthcare coverage challenges. There are four types: Fixed scheme (buy x, get x free), Affordability scheme (Patient pays what they can afford based on financial assessment results), Co-Pay Vouchers (Vouchers covering some or all co-pay) and Cash Flow Facilitation (Helps overcome cash flow shortage resulting from delayed reimbursement).

Patient Financial Eligibility Tool (PFET)

PFET is Axios’ proprietary tool for determining how much help a Patient needs to pay for their full course of treatment. It is the only Patient assessment tool available today that can segment the entire market and takes into consideration income, assets, and standard of living to ensure an accurate assessment in countries where informal economies often prevail. The result of this tool determines the Patient’s Standard Treatment Plan.

Patient Needs Assessment Tool (PNAT)

PNAT is used in Axios’ Patient adherence and support Programs to understand Patient needs across the multi-dimensions of treatment adherence to inform customized adherence and support plans that maximize treatment benefit.

Patient Management System (PMS)

Axios’ proprietary, responsive, and personalized system that is created around the needs of Patients, focused on Patient-follow up, monitoring and tracking. It also offers Axios’ pharmaceutical clients increased and more sophisticated anonymized Patient data. The system can extend automation to include Physician and Pharmacist platforms. It is executed according to international privacy standards and customized to the local context.

Pharmacy

A Pharmacy is an entity partnering with Axios, in which Patients go and collect their medicines. A Pharmacy is tied to a Health Center and should have an MOU signed with Axios. If not, you should upload the following template in the mandatory MOU field.

Prescription

A written instruction by a Physician that authorizes a Patient to be issued with a medicine or treatment. It should clearly stipulate the medicine and required dosage.

Program Content

Program Content is where you add material to support a Patients’ treatment. These materials can be anything from discussion topics for the patient to vote on, lifestyle tips to use or FAQs the patient may have.

Program Data

Program Data is the raw, non-aggregated data that can be exported at the Program level. This section holds all the data related to a specific program including Patient Lists, Interaction Logs, Adverse Events, MRLs, Reconciliations and much more.

Program Settings

The Program Settings is where you configure and follow a Local Program: what country it runs into, the contact information, the MRL or Voucher settings, who has access to the program, the medication, indication, prescriptions, and combinations allowed, the treatment plan templates, and raw data exports.

Referral

In Axios, the action of a Physician to recommend a Patient to one of our existing Programs, providing their and the Patient’s consent for Axios to contact the Patient directly.

Specialty

A branch of medical practice that is focused on a defined group of Patients, diseases, skills, or philosophy, e.g., hematology, rheumatology, etc. Also known as a therapeutic or disease area.

Statement of Medication Necessity (SMN)

A form to confirm a Patient’s medical eligibility to the Program by a licensed treating Physician and to obtain consent from both the Patient and Physician for the Program rules and regulations.

Standard Treatment Plan (STP)

A plan shared with the Patient that clarifies the total number of packs which will be provided as support through the Program and the total number of packs which need to be purchased by the Patient based on their affordability assessment. The plan usually covers full treatment plan or 12 months.
